Campervan Conversions in Scotland, Wales and Cornwall

Start with the listings, not a regional price myth

Scotland, Wales and Cornwall all have working conversion workshops. They do not have a separate official price. A quote in Inverness and a quote in Falmouth move for the same reasons as anywhere else: the van, the spec, the labour and what is included. This page points you at the live listings and at the practical differences that are actually about place.

The UK price index gives a national median and, where enough priced listings exist, a regional row. If a region is missing, that is because the sample is too small to publish — not because we have filled in a number. The cost calculator is a planning range for a spec, wherever the workshop is.

Scotland

Scottish workshops are spread through the Central Belt and into the Highlands, not gathered in one city. The roads they build for include the North Coast 500, the A82 through Glen Coe, and CalMac ferries to the islands. A van that will spend weeks off hook-up wants a realistic water capacity, a heating system that works in a cold snap, and an electrical system sized for short winter days. Those are spec choices. They are not automatically included because the workshop has a Scottish address.

Scotland's access laws allow responsible wild camping in many places under the Scottish Outdoor Access Code. That shapes how people use vans. It does not change the quote unless you ask for the kit.

Wales

Wales is a long country. South Wales workshops and North Wales workshops are not a single local market, and a buyer in Cardiff is not "near" a workshop in Gwynedd in any useful sense. Eryri (Snowdonia) and the Pembrokeshire coast are why people tour here. Lanes in the west and north are narrow; a compact van is often easier to live with than the largest panel van, but that is a driving choice, not a rule.

Wild camping in a motorhome is not covered by a general right to roam in Wales. Plan on campsites, farm stays and Brit Stops unless you have the landowner's permission.

Cornwall

Cornwall's lanes and coastal car parks favour a shorter van. Surf and shore use shows up in practical requests — outdoor showers, wetsuit storage, an awning — when buyers ask for them. They are not a secret Cornish standard spec. The A30 is the main way in and out; several workshops deliver finished vans further up country, which is worth asking about if you do not live on the peninsula.

Choosing a workshop away from home

A local workshop is easier to visit mid-build. A distant workshop can still be the right one if the spec, the dates and the warranty are clearer. Ask:
